Jonas & Sean. A workshop wrap-up.

The last week was the end of long and hard year of work for me. I still have a few weddings left to shoot before New Years, but something happened last week and I see things clearer now.

See, I taught a workshop at my studio with my friend Sean Flanigan. We talked, we shot, we shared, we partied, we hugged, we did a great deal together with all the attendees. And as always when it comes to teaching, I walked away feeling I have learned a great deal about where *I* am and where I’m going. And I know I want to do this again.

It was absolutely exhausting, but now, four days later, I feel pumped again. Excited about where I am, the people I get to meet and work with and the year I have ahead of me.

A few words of thanks.

I could not have done this without Jacqui, who ran the show perfectly behind the scenes together with friends and family, allowing me to be my usual scatterbrained self. Sean for knocking it out of the ballpark over and over again. Dan and Samm, my dear friends, who added some amazing perspective as our guest speakers. Our four models who rocked the crap out of a swamp.

And of course the attendees.

People come to workshops to learn, to be fed knowledge. The thing is that they already have it inside them. All Sean and I did was lead the horse to water.

I hope you all walked away at least a little bit inspired, knowing you have the skills to take this thing you do to new heights.

I love you all.

Can we please do it again?

  1. Jonas/Sean/Dan/Samm the workshop was unreal, seriously how good was it!… so much was shared and I can’t thank you guys enough, seriously (can you tell i’m serious??:) btw the shots above are killer, just goes to show that a swamp really can be a romantic place…

  2. it was so good to be amongst photographers and passionate people, the most inspiring 2 days ever! It’s changed me a great deal and i’m so appreciative of it all.
It also meant a lot of how much effort went into the non-photography side of things, the coffee, the bus, the dinner, the snacks and goodie bags….mostly the snacks. The cheesecake was the most delicious cake ever! (i’m a total foodie)
But yes, all four of you were so amazing!
    thanks so much!

  3. Thank you for the awesome workshop Jonas & Sean.. and more thanks to having awesome peeps around like Dan + Samm to share their vision and big ups to Jacqui for looking after us all so well. I really enjoyed the balance of the workshop, and the time spent on vision and understanding who you are as a person & photographer.. and how you can then give that person to your clients. Very inspiring! Many thanks :)

  4. It was so good that I walked away wanting to change careers. In the last three years i have worked my ass off in a business where I just couldn’t seem to find the one thing I desired, passion! Thanks for helping me to finally discover what I want to do!

  5. It was my absolute pleasure to attend. A big cheers for Sean, Dan, Sa, Jacqui and yourself for hosting an incredible learning experience.

  6. It was an amazing experience. I think you are right, we all have it inside of us but to be inspired and pushed and encouraged was more beneficial than a session on post-processing (though I picked up rad tips in that session thanks!). I don’t think things will be the same for any of us – we all walked away different.

  7. Shame to have missed it, looks awesome. I love how people can see how you and Sean Flannigan have such different creative approaches to the same shoot.

  8. I think we’ll have to make a trip up to Brisbane for the next one. It sounds like it was an amazing day.
