It’s 2014.
In my childhood years in Sweden, New Years Day was a dull and grey number, a day of clouds and leftover food, of hangovers and broken promises. Today I live in Australia and life is different. New Years Day is different. The first day of the year is a bright summer’s morning yelling at you to get up, telling you to get going and it’s (almost, sorry, i had some shots last night) impossible not to get inspired.
I have another year of shooting around the world ahead of me. A year of travels, but also a year of looking after myself. I feel in control for the first time in a very, very long time.
I have a few new years resolutions.
I’m going to write more. I pulled the blog off the front page of my website for that very reason. I am a writer. I was born to write, i know that now and this is an effort to get back into it. If i don’t write enough, bug me on social media, poke me and yell at me at airports. I need to write more. It’s who i am, it’s what i do.
I also take photos.
So I’m doing that too.
Today I’m starting a couple of 365 projects. The main one will be an Instagram project, a visual journal of sorts, so if you want to see what I’m doing this year, i suggest you follow me on instagram. I’m also working on a Polaroid project (see image below), I don’t know exactly where it’s going, but i know i have to keep at it. It feels important.
I’m also planning to keep doing my workshops in 2014, so if you have a group of people (around 15 is a good number) anywhere in the world, please contact me and we’ll make it happen if we can.
But mainly i want to shoot weddings. In Australia and overseas. Like i have been for the last five years. So if you’re getting married, write me, ok? Nothing is too small, i get people who tell me they didn’t contact me because they afraid their wedding wasn’t cool enough and that saddens me immensely.
You’re getting married.
It’s pretty much the coolest thing ever.

You look back at grey gloomy days of broken promises and I look back and long for crisp air, candle lights and a wonderful family life in Sweden again. ;-). No matter what, your photos are beautiful and amazing and I just shared them with a friend who is Kyrgyz and who is also a photographer. Your photos inspire us all.

Oh write, please write! We’re still quite a few of us hanging around since the days you left Göteborg and moved down under and started following your blog and, not only loved but felt at home with your writing. Your pictures are epic and speak for themselves, obviously, but for me, your writing is still number one. You tell stories and put better words to our feelings than we could ourselves. It’s like listening to Håkan sing I guess. I still remember the “What about the boys”- column, so true. So, please continue to write, you fill a void. Can’t wait to see what you do in 2014!
