My first couple of the year. Seemed like a nice mellow wedding to begin the year with. And it was awesome, just different from what I expected.
No shenanigans, just a quiet one on the river, I said to myself the morning of the wedding.
Boy, was I wrong.

“Garry Winogrand is famous for having exposed three rolls of Kodak TRI-X black and white film on the streets of New York City every day for his entire adult life. That’s 100 pictures a day, 36,500 a year, a million every 30 years. Winogrand died in 1984 leaving more than 2500 rolls of film exposed but undeveloped, 6500 rolls developed but not proofed, and 3000 rolls proofed but not examined (a total of a third of a million unedited exposures).
This is the kind of dedication that you need to bring to a street photography project if you hope to achieve greatness.”

Matt and Tamsin. Where do I begin? Wow. I don’t know. The love these two show each other, their friends and family is an inspiration in so many ways. I feel very lucky that they chose me to capture their wedding day in Noosa a couple of days before Christmas.

Yesterday we went down the coast to celebrate my friend Pete’s 30th. I was lucky enough to shoot their wedding last year and it’s always great to catch up with him and Michelle.
The party was held Gold Coast style at the races in Surfer’s. A bunch of good friends got together to drink, eat and hang out all afternoon. It was a truly awesome day. OK, I lost some money, but who cares, right?
Surely I’ll win next time.

Chris - What ISO do you use here? There’s quite a lot of noise, I think. Or did you add that later as an effect? Great feeling anyway.
Jonas - Chris: I’ve added film grain for effect. The ISO is 100, so there really is no noise whatsoever.
Anna - Very nice indeed, as always. I like the grain in the pictures. But my question now: the beautiful music, who is it?

I’ve been in Byron Bay for almost a week, where we hung out with some of my favorite people in the world, Jim and Nettie. As always, paradise is deceptive. I managed to catch a severe cold with all the bells and whistles and now I’m tucked up in bed with a high fever.
I couldn’t figure out why I got five wedding requests in one day last week, but hey, I’m not complaining. All of them sound really cool and hopefully some of you decide to go with me in the end. A very smart choice if I may say so *cough, cough*. When I got back to Brisbane I realized why people are finding my blog all of a sudden.
I’m on the first page of google for several search phrases.
I owe all and everyone who reads my blog and likes my pictures a huge kiss drink.
Your support means a lot and I’m forever grateful.
Just before I left Byron Bay to go back to Brisbane, I got an email from the US. It turns out one of my photos has won a prize in a competition and it will be published in National Geographic early next year. It may not do a lot for my wedding work, but for me personally it’s kind of amazing. I’ll write more about the whole thing later.
Well, back to Byron.
I love Tallows Beach.
Always have.
Always will.
It doesn’t even matter if the weather is crap.
To me it’s still one of the best places in the world.
