Getting the picture

Since I’m originally a writer and not a photographer I’ve always enjoyed photographers writing about their life. I wouldn’t say this article made me get into wedding photography, but I do know I keep coming back to it, reading it over and over again.

It’s a great piece of writing and if you have a minute to spare, I urge you to read it.

It always makes me love what I do even more.

  1. Perhaps why I’ve always had the inkling to own my own flower shop…despite having no talent for flower arranging and the ability to stay up not get up in the early hours of the morning. But what an amazing thing to be (for the most part) surrounded by human joy!

  2. thanks so much for sharing… i had similar ideas in college, of the “nobility” of photojournalism vs the “mundanity” of wedding photography… but now am in a position where one could say life has forced me to be free to love what i love about wedding photography. i’m a stay at home mom planning on homeschooling: no more long-shot dreams of national geographic features! instead i get to experience, intimately, one of the most important moments in a stranger’s life… again and again, and then to make something beautiful out of what i see.
    we shor are lucky ducks…

  3. Thank for passing on this article. It’s good to be reminded of the real benefits of being a wedding photographer.

And, I really, really like your work.
