So, I’m still jetlagged from my trip overseas and wake up at the strangest hours. This morning I decided to at least use the fact that I was wide awake at 4 am in the morning, so I got my gear ready and headed out just before sunrise. I’m normally not much for taking photos of purdy skies (I’m lying, who am I kidding), but I felt I had to get out of the house. This is the view from just outside my house this morning. And every morning for that matter.

Jacqui’s family breeds race horses, so now and then we jump in the car and drive up to their farm in Warwick and a world very foreign to me. I’m a city boy myself, but I love going there and I respect horses. I got thrown off one once, but I still love being around them. Sometimes they try to bully me, but nowadays I just stare back. Always the same standoff; the city boy with the camera and the horses gathering around me. Here are a few photos I’ve taken up at the farm the last year or so. I can’t wait to go back and shoot some more.

these are so beautiful! I’m kind of a city girl too, but I love farms.
you know I like you Jonas… but right now I kind of hate you… wanna stop shooting for a couple years and let the rest of us catch up?

These images show the true beauty of a horse….I too love being in thier presence…magical creatures…magical photography..mind if I show them on my blog I will credit you of course…!!!
go ahead :)

Geoff and Cait.
My first couple of the year. Seemed like a nice mellow wedding to begin the year with. And it was awesome, just different from what I expected.
No shenanigans, just a quiet one on the river, I said to myself the morning of the wedding.
Boy, was I wrong.
It was teh shiznut.
You’ll find a slideshow to music here, don’t miss it.

You have an ability to find the core of the beauty in people in front of your camera. I am so impressed!

Great shots! They flow together very well and tell a story. What kind of plugin did you use to add the grain? Looks very film-like

I particularly like they way that these photos are grainy- really add to its authenticity and creates a somewhat nostalgic mood.

just discovered your work… and it’s blowing me away.
Great shots. Really distinctive, in a field that becomes more indistinctive every day. I especially like the top, in car shot, and the bride with the trees.
Magnifique.

Now I know why you picked Wedding photography. ;)
“Garry Winogrand is famous for having exposed three rolls of Kodak TRI-X black and white film on the streets of New York City every day for his entire adult life. That’s 100 pictures a day, 36,500 a year, a million every 30 years. Winogrand died in 1984 leaving more than 2500 rolls of film exposed but undeveloped, 6500 rolls developed but not proofed, and 3000 rolls proofed but not examined (a total of a third of a million unedited exposures).
This is the kind of dedication that you need to bring to a street photography project if you hope to achieve greatness.”
Wow Jonas.. i love this photo.. !! you have gorgeous work.. ill be a regular..
thanks for your comment on my blog.. sorry i don’t write a lot, i must’ve handed the good writing story telling onto my daughter.. haha..

Jon: Indeed it was. 45mm tilt shift lens.
this may quite possibly be my most favorite t/s lens photo ever.
see this is a killer version of tilting that thing down. you beat me there for sure

fiona carson - i live at bald hills (bracken ridge side) and you don’t know how many times i’ve been *meaning* to get up at sunrise to take a photo on the mudflats at sandgate. i always put it off, however. this may just have inspired me enough to get up tomorrow morning. maybe.
Latu - Wow…how dream is that scene?! A week ago I arrived on your website from an evening of serendepidous googling. I instantly fell in love with your images (started with the Sweden wedding shoot) and after a gander I had to RSS ya! Absolutely beautiful work… :-)
Jay - Honestly, dearest Mr. Photographer, you should sell prints.
